Hello dear readers! Today I want to talk about goal setting. As I stated in yesterday's post I'm trying to learn to be lady like and with that comes some need for bench marks.
Right now I'm a size 14 and weigh about 180lbs. I'm three months postpartum. I feel now is the time for me to really define what I want to accomplish and set up the foundation to reach my goals. I've been looking back on how I felt about my self over the last 10 years and when I was most comfortable with my body image. I would say in reflection it was when I was a size 10. Clothing seemed fairly easy to find and mostly fit well. With the exception of my tummy area. That has always been a tough area for me especially after having children.
In my last post I had a great graphic showing how you can get the same size dress but by different designers and not have it fit correctly. So I have a few goals that I think I can work towards.
One start an exercise routine. I currently am only physically active during snowboarding season and when I'm gardening. I already eat well and believe in whole foods and avoiding GM products, as well as, taking supplements as needed. Since I'm breast feeding I have to keep my calories up and while I was pregnant discovered that my vitamin D levels and iron were extremely low. So I'll be enlisting my Mother-in-law's help to start my fitness program as she is amazing at keeping her body in shape over the course of her life so I know I can really benefit from her guidance. I already have a family Gym membership so that isn't an obstacle for me. What I face is not feeling guilty for leaving to do something for myself. I think most Moms feel this way now and then, but it really can be harmful in the long run and allows us to stay in the same unhappy place far longer than we should be.
Two is to get a new hair cut/style. I have very long hair that reaches my waist. I love it, but it does need to be shaped and I need to be consistent about keeping it looking that way. I have two ladies that I'm considering going to for a hair cut, it just comes down to money. I think it will go a long way to reaching my goal and a foundational piece of the puzzle so to speak.
Three is to find the types of clothing brands that will work for my frame. I'm quite short and have a very limited budget, so this will be quite the adventure. We have some wonderful second hand clothing places in our town that as I get closer to reaching my first goal I will start to frequent to really narrow down what looks good on me. As of right now I have no clue!
I find boards like this really helpful! Gotta love Pintrest!
Also I'll be practicing with what I do have already to begin to feel like a lady. I realize that to transform anything it takes time, and so I'm a work in progress. Sundays are going to be my practice day as we go to church and it really encourages me to wear feminine clothing, such as dresses and skirts and also experimenting with my hair and make up.
Here I go! We'll see what I can come up with on Sunday!
